Video production in Scotland
We’re a video production (& photography!) studio based in Edinburgh, Scotland. What we do is bring a creative, custom, high-end feel to our work, whether it’s moving or still image, and a highly personalised experience for our clients. Each of us has our own art practise as well as commercial work, and we bring that vision and care to everything we do.

Videos for Manufacturing, Tech, Engineering, Healthcare & Education sectors
We’re filming for all kinds of industries, you can see a lot of our work for the food and drinks and cosmetics sectors for example around our product pages. But the fact we film - and photograph - not only in the studio but also in a more documentary style on location in factories, offices, or in the great outdoors means we’ve worked plenty for other sectors such as manufacturing or engineering, as well as for the likes of the NHS. You can see some samples in our portfolio above.

Promotional videos for businesses
From profiling your business filming a promo documentary on location through to showing off products with a studio shoot
One of our USP’s is that, because we’re not only a video production company but also a product photography studio, we can make a video that profiles locations or processes that are part of your business, such as manufacturing processes, interview key individuals who are part of your business, client testimonials, service users or other stakeholders, and then take your final product to our studio and vilm it in a beautiful way that shows off the product perfectly.

Perfect for start-ups
Start-up companies often have difficulty accessing high quality promotional video & photography content at an accessible price. The costs of employing an ad agency can be prohibitive. While we don’t replace the full range of services provided by ad agencies (running ad campaigns, branding etc), what we can do is provide high quality video & photography content directly that can show off your product and the ethos of your company beautifully and professionally to wow investors and get your business off the ground.
Ongoing retainer social media packages
We always love to develop ongoing relationships, and with the internal need to feed the social media beast, we’re very happy to work out cost effective packages to provide you with a stream of monthly content for your socials. This is most efficient when content like this is created in batches, and that helps to keep costs low. Please enquire for details!

Our USP: stills photos too
We can provide video and photography stills to an equally high standard (have a look at our photography pages here to get the idea). Where there are (at least) two of us coming along we can work closely together to achieve both, This is super time efficient as we work closely together as a team assisting one another and exchanging ideas. As a bonus, it also works out less expensive than employing separate teams for video and stills. Less time, less cost, and a better result.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
We’re happy to create pretty much any format of video. However, for convenient reference, many fall into the following categories
A promo video with interviews. Often may be a relatively long format, perhaps 4 or 5 minutes. Of course, we’re happy to do a full length documentary if you like, but for typical web use that is as long as many viewers will stand while still giving an opportunity to get a message across
A ‘mini-documentary’: these are a bit shorter, perhaps 1 to 2 minutes, and involve a pre-prepared message rather than interviews. This helps keep the editing and selection process manageable - we find that if the filming takes an interview format inevitably there will be so much great interview materials to include that the video will grow. So to keep it tight, the message needs to be tight.
Website banners: this will likely not involve any spoken words but either be visuals with no audio, or with music. Although we call these banners, they don’t necessarily appear at the top of a page - any video visuals on the website fall into this category.

We often film social media sequences in multiple clusters - perhaps 4 to 8 sequences of 15 seconds each filmed at one go. These may be horizontal format but are often vertical (and often both). We might make social media cuts from promo videos, mini-documentaries, or they may be self standing. Social media videos may be sequences of clips, or they might be more complex edits with multiple clips or images in a layout moving dynamically, motion graphic text etc. If the edit is more complex with motion graphics etc. then they cost more per sequence.

We have reference prices for certain types of videos (see our reply to the first question above, but broadly speaking promo videos, mini-documentaries, and various kinds of social media videos). We’re happy to make pretty much any format of video for any (legal!) purpose, and if giving a custom quote, we’re assessing especially; not only how much filming time will be required, but also how much pre-production will be needed, especially any creative input in terms of developing a concept or storyboarding, how many crew members will be needed on set, the accessibility of the filming locations, and how much post-production (ie. editing, colour grading) will be needed, and how much input we anticipate the client will want into the final edit. If the filming involves interviews, then selecting and sequencing excerpts from interviews can be much more time consuming (and therefore costs more) than inserting a pre-scripted presentation or voiceover.
There are other things that can affect price: for example what kind of music is needed and licensing costs of music, whether professional models/actors are needed, studio or venue hire, whether motion graphics are needed. visualisations. Check out our illustrative Price Guide for more information. -
This depends on what you want to achieve, and what your audience will want to watch. A more engaged or professional audience who want to hear about the subject of your video might be happy to watch something more in-depth - 5 minutes or even longer. Youtube type content can often happily be half an hour or more. However most promotional material should be as short and grippy as possible, and should highlight in the first few seconds some content that the target audience is going to be engaged with or offers them something they need.
With audiences who will engage with a longer form, then interviews are a great way to show the passion of your team and the impact of your projects or products for your clients or stakeholders.
Customer testimonials are also a great way to build authority. -
There is a place for both: interviews in particular can look great when filmed on the backdrop of one of your projects or a product in use or production. Sometimes filming the production process itself, and then also filming beautiful shots of finished products in our studio can be a great combination. Alternatively, interviews can be out and about in a city or in the coutryside, depending what message your are trying to transmit. But for interviews where there isn’t a specific project or environmental message, it can be convenient sometimes to conduct the interview either in your offices or in our studio in a more controlled environment.
